100 Grammes of Bread

Georgi Fitingof

1941

For those not in the know, 100 grammes of bread (a little under 4 ounces) was the daily bread ration during much of the blockade of Leningrad (St Petersburg) during the VOV. Reflect on that… less than 4 ounces a day… 100 grammes… that was the major part of their food for a whole day. The Germans intended to raze Leningrad to the ground and kill all of the local population… they were only Slavic Untermenschtumen, after all. They were thwarted in their evil design… at great and horrific cost.
