This is one of the most iconic images of the VOV, reproduced in virtually every work on the subject. It’s fame is deserved… it’s one of the most powerful evocations of the horrors of war out there. I’m no pacifist… but you don’t go to war lightheartedly… THIS is the inevitable consequence of it all. THIS is what the USA has unleashed on the world since the fall of the USSR… may God forgive us for such hubris and folly… ask not for whom the bell tollsit tolls for thee. We have to ask forgiveness for the evil that we’ve wrought before we can lecture others… that’s what I think anyway. Do ask the bombed-out Serbs, Iraqis, and Afghanis what they think of it all…
