I have no colour images of the mosaics from this church… in fact, no one has such. Why? This church was destroyed by the Turks in 1922 during the brutal expulsion of the Greek Christian population from Asia Minor. Patriarch Bartholomew came to Russia recently because Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Islamocist prime minister of Turkey, is turning the screws ever tighter on the remaining Christians. America doesn’t support the Phanar unreservedly (although they use it against the MP), but they DO back the Turks without stint.
God willing, there’ll be no repeat of 1922… Smyrna hasn’t been forgotten.
